20.1. Backup batch

You can automate the creation of an event log backup batch directly from Event Log Explorer. You can then execute the ELBACKX utility, passing the generated batch file as a command-line parameter.

To export your Event Log Explorer computer tree to a backup batch file, select Tree -> Export to Backup Batch from the Event Log Explorer main menu.

The following settings can be configured:

Backup folder: Specify the destination folder for the backup files, or use the /NOBACKUP option to skip the backup process entirely (it is useful with /CLEAR option)
Shared folder:  Specify the shared folder where ELBACKX will save temporary files. If left empty, ELBACKX will default to using ADMIN$\\TEMP.
Computers: In the Computers box, select the computer names whose logs you want to back up. Then, select the specific log names to include in the backup.
Clear Logs After Backup: Enabling this option adds the /CLEAR option to the backup batch lines, instructing ELBACKX.EXE to clear the event logs after the backup is complete.

Review the generated backup batch configuration and press the Save button to save the batch file.
